Anthem College Beaverton Hosts Coding Professionals 07/27/10
Anthem College Beaverton (Portland) is sponsoring the newest Oregon chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders.
The newest Oregon chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders held its first meeting this week at Anthem College Beaverton. Both the President-Elect and Secretary/Treasurer of the new chapter are Anthem graduates.
More than 40 people attended, including several Anthem College Medical Billing and Coding (MBC) students and graduates. Students had a valuable opportunity to network and speak with potential employers, including an insurance firm representative, the CEO of two coding facilities, and several doctors.
Anthem MBC alumni initiated this chapter. They wrote to then-AAPC President Reed Pew about Anthem College and the positive influence the school has been in their lives.
This prompted AAPC to call Kelly Kirk, Anthem’s MBC Program Chair, and tell her the College could host meetings for a new chapter right here on campus.
AAPC representatives told Anthem this was one of the largest meetings that they could recall. Anthem College looks forward to hosting AAPC chapter meetings the second Tuesday of every month.
