Eastern Division Schools Observe Service Learning Week 07/26/10

Anthem Education Group's Eastern Division Schools are sponsoring several volunteer efforts this week.

This week marks Service Learning Week for Anthem Education Group Eastern Division Schools.

AEG is committed to encouraging students and staff to collaborate and volunteer with local service- based organizations.

This year’s Service Learning effort kicked off in February with a campaign that benefited the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund.

This week, Eastern Divisions Schools are again sponsoring volunteer opportunities. Following are some of the events going on at various campuses:

  • Anthem Institute Cherry Hill is participating in Operation Backpack and collecting school supplies for 1200 students aided by the Center for Family Services.
  • Anthem Institute New York (Manhattan) students will be volunteering for Covenant House to do workshops on resumes and interviewing.
  • Anthem Institute North Brunswick students will serve meals at a local soup kitchen.
  • Anthem Career College Nashville is sponsoring several events, including a canned food drive for flood relief, establishing a student food pantry, and donating  T-shirts, sweatshirts, and water bottles to the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee.
  • Anthem Career College Memphis Massage Therapy students will be providing chair massages to Memphis firefighters from Station 40 located near the school, and donating pens to Bridges USA, a non-profit group that focuses on assisting inner-city youth and developing leadership skills. Earlier this month, a speaker from Volunteer Mid-South visited the campus to speak about its Flex Volunteer program.
